a visit to the studio of Mike Stilkey.

Not only should you swoon over his art — which he makes ON books and OF books, including an installation using 5,000 of the little darlings — you should read the interview and marvel at his biography and marvel at his brain-thinkings. He says some things I really love, like this: “I like to think of my artwork as one giant poem.” Eeeeeeek! And of his wife he says this:  ”I was drawing her before I even met her.” Double eeeeeeek! This is very good art to make and very good art to see and those are very good thoughts to think and very good thoughts to read.
